Creating a Disk-Based Dataset
You can create a new dataset where instance data is stored on disk by choosing a template or storage location, as well as selecting any associated ontologies. Optionally, you can choose files containing RDF data that you wish to import into the dataset.
Follow the instructions below to create a new disk-based dataset.
Go to the Datasets screen in the Graph Studio application.

The Datasets screen lists the catalog of datasets. For example:

Select Add Dataset > Create Disk Based Dataset to launch the Create Disk Based Dataset dialog.

- Provide a Title (required) and Description (optional) for the dataset.
- Select the RDF data file or directory to import to your dataset. You can use the Browse button to launch the File Location dialog and navigate to this file or directory. Choose files or directories containing raw rdf data; data will be converted to the appropriate format if required.
- If you wish to associate a model with the dataset, use the Ontology dropdown to select this model. If you do not want to associate a model with the data at this time, leave the Ontologies field blank.
Datasets without a model cannot be viewed in Hi-Res Analytics dashboards, but the imported data can still be queried. A model can be associated with the data set at a later time. How do I associate a model with a dataset?
- Specify Advanced options as necessary:
- Dataset Template - Use the dropdown provided if you wish to use a dataset template to create your dataset.
- Force Creation - When selected, Graph Studio overwrites any FLDS in the specified RDF directory with the new one.
- Dataset URI to Use - Specifies a URI to use for the FLDS.
- Skip Ontology Definitions Within Imported Data - When selected, ignores ontology definitions included within the data.
- Generate an Ontology Based on Imported Data - When selected, generates an ontology based on the imported data. Note that this option is only useful when no ontologies are associated with the new dataset or contained within the imported data.
- Click Confirm.
The dataset is created and added to the Dataset catalog.
