Troubleshooting MCP Issues

The table below lists some common issues encountered when working with MCP and how they may be resolved.

Issue Resolution
Tool not found Check the server's Tools to Include/Tools to Exclude settings on the Configuration tab in Agentic Skills. In skills mode, the tool may need to be discovered via the catalog.
Authentication failure Verify credentials and ensure that the user has the authenticatedUsers role. Use the authenticated endpoint (/mcp).
Graphmart activation fails Ensure that at least one Graph Lakehouse server is registered and available. Specify the server explicitly if there are multiple servers.
Query returns no results Verify the graphmart is activated. The AI should query the graphmart's datasource, not the system datasource.
Timeout on large operations Use waitForCompletion=false for long-running operations like activation. Check status separately.
Connection refused (proxy) Verify the Graph Studio server URL and that MCP is enabled.
